Initial research (Jan-April 2019)

Consistent heritage themes across Rochford District

We found consistent heritage themes across the 14 parishes of Rochford District:

  • Links to nobility and various notable people.
  • Strong Christian heritage, including martyrs and the evangelical church founders.
  • An evolving and fascinating social and cultural landscape.

We had a lot of support from other groups on how to approach producing a tapestry:

The Maldon Embroidery is amazing (a must see) and was a real inspiration for us…but also rather daunting when we saw that it took 86 experienced ladies over 3 years to produce.

The Quaker Tapestry was also a great place for ideas and direction, especially around mounting and framing.
