Community and Heritage Workshop - Great Wakering Old School

22/03/2025
Event Times: 11am - 1pm
Price: Free

What are you proud of in Great Wakering?

What would you share with others if there was a local museum or heritage collection?

An opportunity to tell your memories of local places and landmarks, favourite areas and reflections. This could be heritage buildings, landscapes, parks, events, traditions and recreational activities.

Through the Orchard Cultural Programme for the Rochford District, RRAVS and Cultural Engine CIC are collaborating on a project to better understand what people value in Great Wakering (and the wider area), and what themes and issues would be most relevant to explore in local heritage projects (including any future museum for the east of the Rochford District).

As part of the session, we’ll invite you to work creatively with us, including looking at maps and images of the local area, and sharing how you feel. No preparation necessary – just turn up!

The Orchard Cultural Programme for the Rochford District is funded by Rochford District Council via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The Cultural Engine CIC is based in Rochford and collaborates with others including universities to support local projects to develop, using research and community engagement to improve the social, cultural and economic outcomes for local communities. This includes researching and developing the concept of a new Museum for the east of the Rochford District.
