Rochford District Heritage Tapestry

1,000 years of local history in 2ft x 3ft ‘tapestry’ panels

The Rochford District Heritage Tapestry is a community project funded by a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant, with additional financial, premises and other support from the Estuary Elim Church Group. The finished work will measure over 10 metres long, in 10 separate panels. Over 50 people from the Rochford District parishes have been involved in creating hand‑crafted ‘tapestry’ panels, depicting significant events and local history over the last 1,000 years. Local artists and historians designed the scenes, which were then interpreted using embroidery, appliqué, knitting and felting.
