Air, Land & Sea

Another timeline panel, this time in 3 horizontal tiers covering Air, Land and Sea events.

Air:

• Biplane at South Fambridge, Britain's first airfield (1909).
• World Wars
• Commonwealth War Graves across the distruct, including airmen graves at Rochford (1918)
• Shotgate propeller memorial to Captain Henry Clifford Stroud (1918). 
• RAF radar at Canewdon (1936).
• Southend airport is mainly within Rochford parish. There's also an airstrop at Barling.

Land:

• Railway comes to the district (1889). Rochford selected for its high water table to build the reservior needed for steam trains. Large freight house also built.
• A127 was the first road built for motorised vehicles (1925). Prince Henry opens it.
• Decoy landing lights and inflatable tanks on Foulness, Sutton, Barling, etc in WWII to attract bombers away from London.
• Rayleigh Rockets speedway team (1950s-1960s).
• Crossrail/RSPB.

Sea:

• Beagle anchored off Paglesham (1845) to deter smugglers.
• Maplin's screw-pile lighthouse (1838) & the Broomway (one of Britain's most dangerous footpaths).
• Baltic Wharf (1928).
• Building of naval patrol and assault craft at Wallasea Island during the Second World War.
• Ferries at Fambridge & Wallasea and trips to see seals.
